NEW! Weekend Autumn Art Classes 2008 for Adults

Join professional artists for weekend art classes at the beautiful Sawdust Art Festival in September. All classes are held at the Sawdust Art Festival, 935 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach. For additional information or to register for classes, call Jennifer Tye at 949.497.0515.

Glass Blowing with Loren Chapman

Each Student will make two pieces of blown glass in this class. Loren will walk you through each step and will only touch the pipe in case of a problem. Every student will have a great experience with the techniques of gathering glass, blowing the forms, and finishing the glass art piece.
$225 Class Fee includes all materials needed.

September 6 & 7 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Glass Blowing Booth

Oil Painting with Charleine Guy
Learn a fun & easy to way paint in oil a scene of Laguna Beach. You will be guided step by step through the process by impressionist painter Charleine Guy. Each day you will be taken home your original painting. For beginning to advanced students.
$175 Class fee includes all materials needed.

September 6 & 7, October 4 & 5 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sawdust Studio and Art Spot

Ceramic Class with Robert Jones
An introduction to shop practices and processers. Hand building clay forms using traditional methods and expanding those methods into combined pieces. Decoration and glazing, introduction to the potter’s wheel, cylinders, bowls and handles. Concentration on wheel work will be emphasized using throwing skills.
$175 Class Fee includes all materials needed.

September 13 & 14 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ceramic Mud Hut

Glass Blowing with Christopher Jeffries
We will be learning the basic skills involved to work with glass. Getting to know the equipment in the hot shop and becoming familiar with the tool’s we use in the studio. No previous glass experience is necessary for this class. Each student will create a finished glass piece.
$225 Class Fee includes all materials needed.

Getting Wired with James Koch
Come get wired with James. Learn to draw in the third dimension. You will learn various methods of twisting, bending and weaving wire to create both abstract and representational work. You will be taught how to explore creating your own designs on both the abstract and realistic level. You are encouraged to bring their own found objects from home to incorporate into your wire sculptures.
$175 Class Fee includes all materials needed.

October 4 & 5 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Multi-Mixed-Media Playtime with Cherril Doty and Suzette Rosenthal
We will be exploring different forms of self-expression and artistic identity in a positive, supportive and free-flowing setting. This is an opportunity to play in and with a variety of media such as paint, paper, fibers, and more to create an art piece, begin an art journal, produce artist trading cards and myriad other exciting possibilities. Collage techniques, textural substrates, image transfer techniques-it is all possibility in this class. Whether aspiring artist or established one, this class is just plain fun!
$175 Class fee includes all materials needed.

Oil Painting with John Eagle
Learn the basic steps of creating a successful landscape painting from Laguna Beach impressionist painter John Eagle. Emphasis will be on value, design and harmony. You will complete a painting each day. All materials are provided. Students follow along with a demonstration by instructor using brushes to apply oil paint on a 12 x 16 stretched canvas.
$175 Class Fee includes all materials needed.
